XES Intros ImageSite v4.0 6/7/2002 - Xerox Engineering Systems

It seems to me that there are separate technology adoption "waves" in the engineering business, and they correspond to Geoff Moore's metaphors in "Crossing the Chasm." Journalists and consultants seem most sensitive to the really new stuff, that which is picked up by "pioneers" and "early adopters." Once that has been out for a while, it's old hat for us. But the market is defined by the mainstream, not by the early adopters. And--at least in AEC, and probably in manufacturing--the state of the art of collaboration is distributed documents. This is what is selling in quantity right now, not extranets. The XES offering seems to have all the right bells and whistles to ride this wave.
